Individuals with a general skating ability can participate in the CanSynchroSkate program.
This program teaches people of all ages the basics of synchronized team skating. Teams of
eight or more skaters can earn rewards by completing the required elements. Teams may also
enter invitational recreational competitions. The CanSynchroSkate program also introduces
group work and the concept of team spirit.
Synchronized Skating
Synchronized skating is a group of 12 to 20 skaters, both male and female, skating in unison to
music. Synchronized skating combines athleticism and artistry while encouraging fun and
participation. This sport is much like synchronized swimming since the objective is to have all
team members perform precisely in unison.
Synchronized teams skate as a single unit over the entire ice surface to perform a variety of
intricate and exciting maneuvers and formations. It is important for all synchronized skaters
to improve their skating skills and therefore they are typically also enrolled in the Skate
Canada test stream.
Green Machine Synchronized Skating Team
The Green Machine Masters Festival Synchronized Team is comprised of up to 20 members of women and men who are between the ages of 25 and forever. Festival teams are recreational level teams who still compete, but at a recreational level. The team skates every Tuesday evening from 8:30 to 10:20 p.m. during the Winter season at the Orleans Recreation Centre on Youville Drive (Orleans) in the east end of Ottawa, Ontario.
Mandate of the Green Machine:
To foster a team with a positive, co-operative, supportive attitude
To encourage the development of skills
To play together in a fun, safe and healthy environment
TO DO OUR INDIVIDUAL BEST TO MAKE OUR TEAM THE BEST!!
- Recruitment is always underway for new members. If you have an interest in finding out more about The Green Machine or coming out to test the ice, please contact Joni Sleigh, jj.sleigh@gmail.com or leave a message at 613.222.7133

Fine Line Synchronized Skating Team
The Fine Line Adult Synchronized Skating Team competes at the Adult Festival level. Our goal is to be the best we can be while enjoying every minute on and off the ice as a team. In 2007, Fine Line placed 5th at the Central Regional Festival Championships in North Bay, Ontario; and 10th at the National Synchronized Skating Championships in Chicoutimi, Quebec.

In 2006, the team traveled to Bordeaux, France where they won 1st place at the Synchro Aquitaine Cup. It was a most memorable and unique trip for the team.

In 2008, Fine Line will compete at the Central Regional Festival Championships with the goal of qualifying for the National Synchronized Skating Championships to be held in Chilliwack, BC.
Fine Line is coached by Natacha Saintonge. Natacha has extensive experience as a synchronized skating coach; her passion and love for skating is an asset to Fine Line.
