Amber green

Dance, Flexibility/Stretch, Movement, and Yoga Instructor.

13 years Skating Experience.

Professional Contemporary Dance Certification, Yoga Teacher Training Certification, Yin Yoga Intensive Teacher Training, and Yoga Tune Up Certification.

Amber Green started figure skating at the age of 6 in Kingston and soon after moved to Ottawa and continued skating until the age of 19 when she moved to Toronto. Here she began her dance training in Graham technique at The School of Toronto Dance Theatre while completing her undergraduate at York University. In 2010 Amber graduated with her Bachelor’s with Honors Double Major in Global Politics & Human Geography. After graduating from York she auditioned for The School of Dance in Ottawa to pursue her new found passion in exploring contemporary movement. At The School of Dance she studied under Sylvie Desrosiers, Peter Boneham, Merrilee Hodgins, Cathy Kyle Fenton, and Mary Ross. Here she was able to embrace the natural dynamism of her movement as well as investigate more subtle ways of moving.

As an instructor she hopes to make classical dance technique fun by pairing movement qualities and music that make these tedious but necessary exercises more interesting. Her classes are designed to create strength and stability as well as flexibility in the body and compliment the requirements and demands asked from figure skating. When she is not teaching at the rink she is usually teaching with Momentum Moves giving dance workshops in elementary schools across Ontario, performing with various collectives and for professional choreographers in the Ottawa area, presenting seminars about mindfulness and meditation, or teaching private yoga classes.
